MACBETH AUDITION Friday 9 November 2018
Some notes about Macbeth and our audition at West Ashling Village Hall, PO18 8DN
Hilary Strong will be directing ‘Macbeth’ for the Funtington Players for performance from 9th to 13th April 2019. She was responsible for ‘Great Expectations’ and will again cast an ensemble of players aiming to create a fluid production that is fast-moving and exciting.
When it comes to Shakespeare’s tragedies, it doesn’t get much darker than ‘Macbeth’. The story of the Scottish General who, spurred on by a prophecy of three witches and consumed by ambition, is driven to murder his King. It’s a terrifying tale, yet one of the shortest and most performed of the Bard’s works. There are great character parts, a small amount of humour and dollops of drama.
I do hope many of you will be coming along to audition for Macbeth on 9th November. The plan is to see people who are interested in playing the lead roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth first so I can put together possible pairings. I’ll be working on a short scene from the edited script (see first file below).
Everyone else please come for 8.30pm and the second file includes a few different scenes (again, from our edited version) which hopefully provides everyone with the opportunity to have a go.
If you are not sure what part you would like to tackle then please do come at the start. Also, if you would like to discuss with me in advance then please do get in touch (in the evening or at weekends). I will bring some printed copies of both files so don’t worry if you haven’t got a printer!
