About Us
Funtington Players is a friendly and welcoming theatre group that produces amateur drama to a high standard.
We perform two productions each year, usually in April and November, at the West Ashling and Funtington District Hall. The Village Hall has been our principal performance venue since 1946. Alongside our productions, we enjoy an active social programme that includes club nights, workshops, studio evenings, bowling and our annual New Year Supper.
During lockdown we continued to make theatre together through Zoom productions, audio projects and
In 2018 we launched ACT WRITE DIRECT, an initiative inviting members to write original short plays for performance in a review evening performed in the round. The project encourages new writing while creating additional opportunities for acting and directing outside our main productions.
Since then, ACT WRITE DIRECT has become an important and successful part of the Funtington Players programme.
We warmly welcome new members. If taking to the stage is not for you, there are many other ways to become involved. From set building and stage management to costume, front-of-house and technical support, every production depends upon a wide range of skills and enthusiastic volunteers.
If you would like to learn more about the society before joining, please use the Contact page to send us a message. Our Membership Secretary will be pleased to get in touch.
Funtington Players are members of NODA and of PORTSMOUTH AMATEUR DIARY
